Course description

First semester of a two-semester sequence which presents quantum mechanics on a professional level. Includes topics such as infinite dimensional vector spaces, postulates of quantum mechanics, exactly soluble bound systems, and angular momentum. Required for M.S. and Ph.D. students. Prerequisite: PHYS 4220, PHYS 4310, MATH 4440 or equivalent, concurrent registration in PHYS 5110.
