Course description

An overview of scientific and engineering principles underlying nuclear energy generation. Topics will include basic atomic physics, radioactive decay, nuclear fission and fusion, neutron transport, criticality conditions, reactor kinetics, and an introduction to numerical methods employed in the modeling of nuclear reactors. Prerequisites: ME 3450 is required for ME/ESE students; non-ME/ESE majors need PHYS 1220
