Course description
An introduction to the history, development, and cultural significance of Japanese animation. Examination of a variety of anime genres, will gain insight into contemporary Japan as well as important historical periods. Read analyses of particular anime, emphasizing the unique characteristics of the art and the mystery of its popularity in the US. Prerequisite: WA or COM1
