Course description
Offered through distance education. Flexible course to accommodate students completing discipline specific and/or interdisciplinary program field studies experiences, e.g., athletic performance, health/fitness application, minor in Outdoor Leadership, National Outdoor Leadership School programs. Cross-listed with HLED 4074.

This field experience is open to students who have taken or are currently taking Endurance Mountain Sports – Training and Coaching. This course is experiential and place-based; students will reinforce their knowledge of endurance mountain sport physiology, psychology, general wellness and technical and tactical skills while running mountains, rollerskiing, skiing and racing across the Mountain West. Outcomes for this course will be developed in collaboration with the learner and can range from being able to effectively train for and compete in a Nordic ski or mountain running race to mastering the skillset needed to coach at a local, national, or international level.
