Course description

This course will provide an overview of fuel cycles employed in the nuclear industry. Topics examined will include uranium mining, milling, conversion, and enrichment, different fuel forms and their fabrication, the radiochemical composition of used fuel, and backend strategies for used fuel storage and reprocessing. A particular emphasis will be placed on the chemical separations strategies employed throughout the fuel cycle. Cross-listed: CHEM 5201 Dual-listed: ERS 4201 Prerequisite: CHEM 1030
