Special topics in environment and natural resources are offered under this number. The specific subject matter varies each year because the course is normally taught by faculty who wish to present a specialized topic of interest to ENR and other students. Explores the economic basis of environmental problems and provides an accessible approach to how economic concepts can be applied to guide environmental policy. Market failures that give rise to excessive air and water pollution, land degradation and biodiversity loss are presented alongside potential market-based solutions. We also examine approaches to natural resource valuation techniques and the economic underpinnings to the management of renewable and non-renewable resources.
