Course description

This course focuses on the pedagogical content knowledge and instructional and assessment practices that will prepare students to implement research-based reading and writing instruction for children from ages 3-8. Key topics include reading fluency and comprehension, vocabulary, and writing. This course requires an early literacy practicum. Prerequisite: 2.75 UW cumulative and 2.5 content GPA; C or better in EDST 3100, EDST 3101, and EDEL 3720; concurrent enrollment in EDEL 4309, EDEL 4109, and EDEL 4410.
